Fleece is a type of fabric with high heating power, low weight and good compression at an affordable price. If you want to invest in a material that is even lighter and more compressible but much more expensive, opt for goose down jackets. But be careful! Use specific ones for camping, which are smaller and lighter than domestic ones. You can replace them with a sweater.

It may seem silly, but when you feel the urge to pee in the middle of the night, when you are warm and comfortable inside your sleeping bag, leaving the tent WILL be a terrible ordeal. You will have to put on several layers of clothing again to withstand the intense cold. Men can use a wide-mouthed canteen. Women should use a special funnel that makes it easier to do so.

Hand warmer - 4 to 10 units
If you want to avoid getting cold at all costs, we suggest taking hand and foot warmers, known worldwide as hand warmers. A mixture of iron, water and salt that, when in contact with oxygen, triggers a chemical reaction that releases heat, keeping hands and feet at a temperature of approximately 40ºC for up to 6 hours.

Trekking poles - 1 pair
Some people don't like them, but this is due to lack of practice. The benefit, when used correctly, is a reduction of up to 30% in the impact on the knees, since you will be sharing the effort of walking with your arms and especially your shoulders. DAY 0: Huaraz (3,052m)
Meet in Huaraz in the afternoon to go to the store where you can rent equipment that you have previously booked. Overnight stay in a hotel included. Meals not included.
DAY 1: Huaraz (3,052m) - Llaganuco valley (4,530m) - Morrena Camp (4,900m)
With our initial acclimatization cycle completed in the previous days, we will have breakfast at the hotel at 7:00 am for the 2.5-hour transfer to the start of the trail in the Llaganuco Valley at an altitude of 4,530 m. After organizing what will be transported by the mule drivers and meeting the support team for the expedition, we will begin the trek around noon to our first campsite in Morrena. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

DAY 2: Getting to know the equipment and basic techniques for crossing glaciers
First day of glacier training. Students will learn how to put on double boots, crampons, basic alpine rope knots and use ice axes. A short traverse will be made near the Morrena camp, crossing cravassis, skirting seracs, and learning about self-braking techniques in case of a fall by a member of the rope or by themselves. This will be the beginning of a gradual build-up to gain confidence for the summit day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

DAY 3: Vertical techniques on ice
A day of more technical exercises on ice walls near the Morrena camp. Students will perform a simple climb at a moderate angle in order to gain confidence with the tips of their crampons and technical ice axes. They will learn about ice qualities, and how to set up anchors on both ice (Abalakov) and snow, both without leaving behind the rappelling equipment. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

A day to put into practice all the learnings from the course. The group will wake up at 2 am to begin the final approach, passing through cravassis, seracs and an ice wall with an average angle of 60º and a length of 90m. After reaching the summit, the expedition will begin rappelling back to Morrena Camp. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Our ice climbing course takes place in the stunning Cordillera Blanca, in the Peruvian Andes. The chosen mountain is perfect for glacier crossing training, snow camping and technical vertical climbing: Yanapaccha, at 5,460m above sea level. Due to its easy accessibility compared to neighboring iconic mountains such as Alpamayo, Huascaran or Artesonraju, it is undoubtedly one of the best and most beautiful training camps in the world.
