This 3-day trek is less well-known than the classic neighboring trails in the Mantiqueira Mountains, allowing for less crowded campsites and a greater connection with the environment. Located within the Serra do Papagaio State Park, the route protects stretches of high-altitude Atlantic Forest, the source of the springs that feed the Rio Grande basin. The crossing passes through the summits of Pico do Bandeira (2,216m) and Pico do Papagaio (2,100m), as well as the Juju, Charco, and Garcias waterfalls. It is increasingly becoming an important destination for national mountaineering.
