Located on the outskirts of the city of Bariloche in Argentine Patagonia, Lake Frey is the main destination for lovers of trekking and traditional cleft climbing in the Cerro Catedral region during the summer. Distinctly colored lakes, forests full of woodpeckers and granite needles perfect for different levels of climbers make this route unique.
There are two days of trekking and three of climbing with approaches of a maximum of 30 minutes, always respecting the level of the group members. If you dream of climbing in Patagonia, this is without a doubt the best gateway.

DAY 0 (prior to dispatch): Arrival in Bariloche.

DAY 1: Cerro Catedral Base – Refúgio Frey.
After breakfast at the hotel in Bariloche, we will continue via transfer for approximately 20 minutes to the base of Cerro Catedral, the start of the trail. We will pass by the beautiful Gutierrez Lake and a typical Patagonian forest full of woodpeckers. When we arrive at the camp, we will set up our tents and enjoy free time in the beautiful landscape. Lunch and dinner included in the refuge. Stay in individual tents.

DAY 2: Climbing the Frey Needle.
Day of climbing on the needle closest to the refuge, with only a 10-minute approach. The route of the day is the most repeated in the entire sector: the Sifuentes-Weber, a 6th BRA in perfect cracks. If the weather window allows, we will climb another shorter route on the same needle, Diedro de Jim, 5ºsup BRA. Dinner included at the refuge. Stay in individual tents.

Accumulated elevation: 200 m

Distance: 100 m

Estimated time: 5 - 7h

DAY 3: Climbing at Agulha Abuelo.
The climb of the day will be on a classic needle of the sector with an approximate time of 30 minutes. The chosen route will be the Nhac Nhac Crunch Crunch, a 5th BRA with good grips. After finishing the rappels, if the window allows, we will climb the M2 needle opposite with breathtaking images. Dinner included at the refuge. Stay in individual tents.

Accumulated elevation: 200 m

Distance: 1 km

Estimated time: 5 - 7h
