Climbing La Esfinge in the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca is the final stage in the career of a serious traditional route climber. World-renowned by elite athletes for its natural beauty, but mainly for the challenge of ascending 750m through granite cracks with few fixed protections at an altitude of 5,325m. It is comparable to iconic mountains such as Trango Tower in the Himalayas and El Capitan in the United States. The chosen route is Del 85, the most accessible and democratic route in the massif.

Do I need prior high-altitude mountaineering experience for this itinerary?
No.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants for this expedition?
Minimum 2 participants and maximum 6.
How many clients are there per guide?
Maximum of three clients per guide, with the option to hire a private guide.
What comfort level should I be climbing to make this route enjoyable?

Do I need a climbing course?
Yes, you need to master rappelling with an extended brake and backup friction knot, handling the main brakes (Grigri and ATC), basic knots (double figure-eight, figure-eight knot, and prusik friction knot), and the minimum syllabus content of our Basic Rock Climbing I course. If you have not taken the course with AA, proof of proficiency in the procedures must be provided by presenting a certificate from a recognized institution, a video, or prior experience on a sport climbing outing with one of our guides.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants for this expedition?

Do I need to have all the climbing equipment?
Personal use items are allowed, but items for collective use by the climbing team are not, such as ropes, slings, and various hardware.
What are the possible payment methods for itineraries and courses priced in dollars or euros?
Payment can be made in cash or via PIX (Brazilian instant payment system), divided into however many installments the client and AA define in the contract, provided that the total payment is settled up to 15 days before the start date of the itinerary. Payments made in Brazilian reais will be converted at the exchange rate of the day, considering the rate of the Confidence exchange house in Jundiaí.
